"Savanah was incredibly supportive at my home birth! I loved that she was there for me but that she also gave me the freedom to labor however I felt I needed to in the moment! She is a true blessing!" ~Emily
"Savanah was a constant uplifting support for me. She made my pregnancy and birthing experience something holy and healing. She has an infectious smile and a light that shines everywhere she goes and loves to share that light with everyone. My home birth was the best experience of my life and was gentle and I was always treated with respect and dignity. Her support during labor and delivery was invaluable. She helped make a natural birth a spiritual experience." ~Kelly

My Story
My name is Savanah Songer. My birth journey started in 2008, when I was preparing for the birth of my first child. I knew I wanted a natural birth, but I didn't know that it would be so hard to accomplish in the hospital setting. I did everything right, hired a doula, received natural childbirth education, and did most of my laboring at home. Despite being fully dilated within 30 minutes of arriving at the hospital, my birth ended in a traumatic, unnecessary cesarean under general anesthesia. This ignited a passion in me to help others acheive the births they desired.

I started attending births in 2010. I finished my midwifery apprenticeship in 2016 and became a licensed midwife. During my apprenticeship, I managed to have three more children- ALL AT HOME! My homebirths were all unique but wonderful in their own way. Everyone at my births knew and loved me and my babies. That is what sets homebirth apart, I think. By the end of your pregnancy, your midwife is like family. She is personally invested in you and your family. My VBACs have given me a great desire to help other women, like myself, achieve vaginal births after cesareans. Homebirth is my passion and it is my goal to serve every client and her family with an open heart.
My Philosophy
My philosophy is simple: Women were created to give birth. When left alone, birth almost always happens perfectly. Women deserve to be provided with informed consent, respect and support in their birth choices. With these three things in place, birth will have more favorable outcomes.
